Uninstallation in Windows 8

Can somebody please update these instructions for Windows 8?
Avira still shows up in 'All Apps', and I had to use other commands to enter safe mode.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Yes, I did. Did you read the announcement? Avira doesn't support Windows 8, it can be problems with using it on this OS. The instruction will be updated when Windows 8 will be officially supported.

From the announcement:
‘If an upgrade or a new installation of Windows 8 has already been performed, then the current Avira version can only be uninstalled manually.'

I am saying that the instructions for manual uninstallation do not work in Windows 8 (see original post).

Ignoring this request won't stop people from going with Windows Defender.
Is it even legal not to allow people to uninstall your software?

Deleting the uninstallation link from your website is not going to stop people either: our computer is perfectly safe as Windows Defender is part of Windows 8, I don't need two similar programs.

Hi Dansercoer,

To perform a complete uninstallation of Avira in Windows 8, please refer to the steps below:

1. Please Press "Windows key + R" to open Run
2. Type "msconfig" without quotes
3. Go to "Boot" tab and tick the "safe boot"
4. Restart your computer and you should be able to go into "safe mode"
5. Please go to your Control Panel and uninstall Avira
6. Please repeat 1-3 but an untick/uncheck the "safe boot" option to restart into normal mode and restart your computer

Please take note of information below:

*For Windows 8, safe mode short key would be "Shift + F8" (might vary on manufacturers), therefore, I prefer to use the msconfig method

..and yes please check out the pdf below:

Regarding Windows Defender, the use of more than one Anti-Virus solution under the same operating system is not recommended because of possible conflict in their main parts. This could, unfortunately, prevent these applications from functioning properly and cause unexpected failures to your system.

Cheers mate!

Hey Hi Avon,

Thank you for the wonderful links...

The link i provided in the previous post:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/antivir…/windows-7.aspx

is just some information on Windows Defender and Antiviruses. Its nothing to do with Windows 8

But truly i appreciate the links you have provided as below:

http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/windows-8/

http://www.av-comparatives.org/certifica…dows-8-approval

It shows that Avira is not yet compatible with Windows 8. The PDF link in my previous post have more explanations

..and yes please check out the pdf below:

http://www.avira.com/files/support/EN/Avira_W8_2_EN.pdf

Thanks :)

Sorry, I didn't get notifications.
The problem has been solved, it just took a while before Avira disappeared in 'All Apps'.
Thanks a lot tobit_raphael!
