Rescue CD runs and scans from GUI, but command line freezes

I downloaded the Rescue CD from here: http://www.free-av.de/en/tools/12/avira_antivir_rescue_system.html

I downloaded it on Feb. 08, 2009, and burned it on a CD-R on Feb. 09, 2009.

I did this using InfraRecorder on a Dell Latitude D630 with a DVD+-RW burner (TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H)

It burned the .iso just fine on the CD-R, it seems, since I was able to boot up the Rescue CD's GUI on the laptop and was able to scan for 30:33 minutes. Changing configurations on the GUI works just fine. However, the problem happens when I click with the mouse pointer on the "Command Line". What happens is that it freezes the whole device, as in, the dvd-+rw drive stops spinning. The mouse cursor doesn't stop functioning though (I tried it with a USB mouse, and the built-in touchpad). I also tried it on a Dell Latitude D610 and same issue.

I am going to do another burned image, but I figured maybe someone came up with this issue already? It will be almost pointless for me to discover a virus on a machine and not be able to actually "delete" it via command line since it isn't supported yet on the GUI.

A shortcut to the Command Line before the Rescue CD would be helpful as well to test this further.

Thank you!

I guess if I press CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE, I get to the actual command line.

I guess, also, pressing the "-" (hyphen) turns into beta symbol, and if you press the "?" key, it turns it into "-" (hyphen) again. I guess it's due to the German keyboard layout as previously stated?

Thank you for your support though :D

Hi exchange keys,
You can get to the command line by pressing CTRL+ALT+Backspace. This will close the graphical interface altogether. To get it back, you need to run this command:
/etc/init.d/rescue/boot

Once entered in the command line you can use the following command to scan your system:
antivir -s -ren /mnt/

It is possible to use the command line to delete files, by adding the -del option. Type antivir --help for the complete list of options.

Please note that only the German keyboard layout is supported right now. English keyboard layout will be added soon. So if you need the slash (/) on a US keyboard you have to press SHIFT+7 and for minus (-) you have to press slash (/).

P.S.: If you scan your system from the GUI, all the detected files will be renamed (they will become inactive).
