Basic Question on Avira

Hi , I have tried to search for similar topics because my question is so basic but I cannot find anything...also it is very difficult to read the threads as they are in "computereeze"...technical lingo...I just want to know ...After Avira does the scan and finds a bunch of bad stuff and I ask for the report...Is that stuff now GONE?? Does Avira get rid of the things that it finds ..automatically? Do I need to do anything more?
and 2) Sometimes it beeps and warns me right when I open something...and asks me what to do...???? I am not the expert...I want a no brainer program...one that does the work of keeping all bad things out...so I don't have to worry about it. Is Avira doing this?
Thank you.

Hi Lindy,

To answer your questions,

1.If you have quarantined these detected files then Avira has removed them from your system, but holds them in the Avira INFECTED folder. They can not get back onto your system unless you specifically replace them.
2.If while visiting a www site you get a warning beep then when the Avira box appears for your action click deny.

I think it would be good if you could post the detection you have had so we can look over them, also the last Avira scan log you ran.

Please also tell us which operating system you are running as it will help answer questions you may have.

Regards
Barrie

Hi,
You can go into Avira's configuration, tick Expert Mode, go to Scanner, Scan, Action for concerning files, select the Automatic mode, set the Primary action to Quarantine, click Apply.
After that go to Guard, Scan, Action for concerning files, select the Automatic mode, put the Primary action to Deny, click Apply (make the same settings for the WebGuard module).

no box

Hi Barrie, thank you. I think that I was looking at the wrong list of "things found"...it was more an educational list of things that exist...so I am greatly relieved that all those were not what was found on my computer!! But today in a scan they did find one thing...however there was never any box or request for me to do something...it was simply reported. So is there supposed to be a box come up and ask me what I want to do? or does the Avira program just handle it? thanks

This can be set up by you in which way you want to.

Thank you Alexandru and Barrie, I have done (most of) the things you told me to do. I did all the settings Alex said to do...wow...I feel like a "techie"...or however you spell it...and I am feeling much more confident about what is going on and that I am protected...thank you. So I think we are good!
