Avira Scanner

I have the same basic question as ARMPIT about scanner closing upon completion of automatic scan.

Yes it stays open on manual scan but that is not what we are wanting. We want it to stay open on auto scan.

My thread Avira scanner show where I went through all kind of changes including reinstall and it only worked the first time after that.

There are different entries in the schedule log concerning edit mode =1 or =3

Why are these edit modes not the same in both instances. Would that not solve the problem???.. ?(

Hi,

I don't understand you problem.
You can change the mode by editing the job.

Hi,

An now what is the problem?

Quoted

Well your reinstall suggestion worked

Changes to the schedule.log were sysscan.avp --guimode=1 ..no exit mode

The sysscan.avp file list all the modes as being =1

Scheduler was set up as before and Lukefile walker stayed in taskbar after scan was completed.

Thanks for the help...

The problem is that it only worked one time after the reinstall and then reverted to closing after auto scan.

All systems set as you suggested yet the exit mode=3 still shows up in the schedule logs.

Why does manual scan stay open yet auto scan closes.

The schedule log shows a different file and no exit mode after a manual scan

All this info can be found in the referenced thread marked as solved

Sorry, but did I misunderstand you that you want an auto-scan windows to remain open? That is not possible in my opinion. Every antivirus product runs scheduled scans and if a vrius or unwanted program is detected then only the Virus-Scanner pops up an lalerts, otherwise it does not alert the user. Same is with the Real-Time module(Guard for Avira). It scans each and evry file on-access but reports only after it detects some nuisance. It would'nt be nice if you open every file and Avira pops up saying "The File has been scanned, No Threats have been detected. Get my point?

Thanks for the reply

My problem is that when I do an auto scan Luke Filewalker closes upon completion of the scan
I have to enter Avira system and open reports to see the results of the scan.

If I complete a manual scan Luke Filewalker stays open until I end the scan
This give me immediate access to the scan results

I want auto scan to perform the same as manual scan

I do not want every file to open only the summary of the auto scan when the scan is completed

I understand your problem. But normally the Scheduled Scans(hereby refrerred to as Auto-Scans) do not show any result unless a virus has been detected.

Every scan that has been performed leaves behind a report. You can read them all if you want to.

What is so different about a manual scan and a scheduled scan with the exception that scheduled scans have an exit mode=3 and the manual scan exit mode is=1
Which I have not been able to edit

AlfaMS

Thanks for the reply but I am trying to eliminate having to open a separate page to read a report that I feel should be available in the same panel whether it be manual or scheduled

Alexandru

Opened into safe mode and the following files which show as exit mode=3 in the schedule log all show exit mode=1

These files are "alldrives.avp""alldisc.avp""sysscan.avp"

CFG> gui mode =1....exit mode =1...system scan =1

Where could the exit mode=3 originate from besides these files. Have not found anything with exit=3 besides the sched logs.
