CHKDSK and COD MW2
Hi there,
I've also just run into the continual chkdsk problem on my machine. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit version.
In case it helps to track down the problem, my problems coincided exactly with installing and running Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on my system.
Everytime I have Avira Antivir Premium installed and running and I start up COD MW2 even for a few seconds, on the next boot I get the dreaded
chkdsk. fsutil also reports the filesystem as dirty before I boot. I'm not sure if the problem is the game itself or the Steam system that is also
installed with the game.
The problem goes away with other antivirus products and only appears when I run COD MW2 even for a few seconds. For example...
C:\Windows\system32>fsutil dirty query c:
Volume - c: is NOT Dirty
[I then ran single player COD MW2 for just 10 seconds and immediately quit the game]
C:\Windows\system32>fsutil dirty query c:
Volume - c: is Dirty
I've tried leaving Antivir installed and just disabling it, and this also prevents the problem from occurring. The problem only occurs
when the Guard module is running. Running just WebGuard and MailGuard do not produce the problem.
So, if you want to reproduce this CHKDSK bug I suggest trying the latest Call of Duty game!
