Hi thinktall,

Sure, I've sent a PM to you with that experimental hotfix.
Tell me the results :)

Hot Fix seems to work fine

Marfabilis

Thanks for your swift response.
It has worked just fine.
I did need to use your suggestion to replace the file in "safe mode"
Rebooted twice after resetting the Antivir parameters.

Now I am one happy Antivir user again - brilliant.

Hi thinktall,

Unfortunately, the hotfix is experimental, and this issue is being thoroughly analyzed internally.
I've asked internally about futher suggestions, since the procedures that we had before to request may not be the same for now.

This issue also could happen when some programs are constantly requiring too much CPU usage or crashed.
Did you notice something?

Comments to CPU usage

Hi,
can not really add much to what I have already said -
Basicall I have a "sawtooth" Graphic in the system CPU monitor showing between 65% to 100% CPU use constantly.
The Processes using the CPU are avgaudr.exe & Avconfig.exe.
Even when all Antivir Gaurds (web / Mail etc)are switched off it still continues.

This might help:
However I just tried out something. I disabled Antivir Gaurd through right clicking the small Icon and left it "off " for about 5 mins. (Antivir Web & Email were still switched on)
The CPU usage then returned to normal (90-94% Free!)
I then Right clicked the Icon again and switched Gaurd back on . Usage stayed as I would hope for.

Now I am no expert but somehow it looks as if Antivir Gaurd gets locked up somehow.

I´ll let you know how this progresses and if it ends up being "stable"

Hope you can help pretty soon otherwise I will need to find a new Antivirus software!

Regards
Thinktall

Hi thinkall,

This issue was fixed. Make sure your Avira is up to date.

Thanks for the Swift Response.
My Antivir is upto date and its still giving me issues - still saw toothing with 100% CPU usage

So I have tried a reboot to see if maybe that helps....

as they say in Germany "reboot tut Gut!" the Reboot seems to have done it - no more saw tooth and better performance.

Strange, really strange.

1) Could you please click on "Start AntiVir > Help > About Premium (..) > A small pop-up will appear, then click on Version Information tab > Right-click on any item and click on Copy to clipboard > Open your Notepad and press Ctrl + V > Copy and paste whole content in your next reply.

2) Do you have the file antivir0.rdf, version 10.0.0.74 in your Avira installation directory?
Just try to open the file using your Notepad. You will see the version at line 2.

Installation directory: C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop or C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\AntiVir Desktop

3) Please post here a HJT log.
