Avira Search free toolbar

Is this a necessity ?
Im being nagged by avira to install it and has it been known to cause browser malfunctions? Imabit wary of toolbars

Im using ff5 , IE9 and chrome on Vista Home premium
I have the free version of avira

Im not sure what to do with it but click Install later
Will it eventually lead to something I have to pay for as I dont have plastic or even paypal

Hi,

Well feel free to use this toolbar to get our Webguard function for free. Because of infected webservers it is strongly recommend to use such pre-scanning technology like our Webguard.

If you don't want to use this toolbar no Webguard will be installed and you'll not nagged again. This toolbar works with MS IE and Mozilla Firefox. If you use Chrome as default browser you won't see a toolbar but Webguard will work in the background.

Hi
thanks for the quick reply

so far have there been any reported problems with browsers ?

If I install the toolbar would it be possible to uninstall if I ran into conflicts ?

As far as we can see there aren't any reported issues with our Avira Toolbar and all tested browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari...). So I don't think that you'll expect any errors.

If it is just hide instead of removed you'll keep our Webguard.

Hi cow,

It's not needed to see Avira SearchFree toolbar in the browser to AntiVir WebGuard work (such as Opera and Chrome), but you must have Avira SearchFree installed to keep AntiVir WebGuard working :)

Hi cow,

You're most welcome. Also, if you really liked AntiVir WebGuard, consider it a useful feature and you're feeling safe with this module, you could buy Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in future. Then, you'll must have to uninstall your Avira AntiVir Personal to install one of these versions, right? Both products do not have any kind of toolbar or conditions to use any modules ^^

Your Avira AntiVir Personal is free and will remain free (your license is automatically renewed) with or without AntiVir WebGuard module.

Hi marco thank you
Im unfortunately old fashioned in payment .. no paypal .. check or CC .. cos Im without an income
I wouldnt mind buying if I saw it in the stores here though .. so far no luck

so what you are saying is that FF6 can disable this ?
and the guard would still run in the background ?
if it didnt would it be possible to re enable it should I go back to FF 5

Hi cow,

AntiVir Guard is a module that has no dependencies with Avira SearchFree Toolbar.
Also, please read this post ^^
