[Solved] No webguard in 2012 version?

No webguard in 2012 version?

Hi,

I just removed AntiVir 10 and installed 12 and realize that there is no webguard in this version and no AntiVir/Ask.com toolbar. I'm a little bit disappointed.

Is this the correct configuration or am I missing something? I would like to have the webguard back, but I guess I can live without it.

Thanks for any information you may provide.

Make Internet Explorer your default browser and after that follow these instructions.

Okay, thanks Farger, I now have webguard enabled and have switched my default browser back to SeaMonkey.

Odd that IE has to be default browser to install webguard, but easy enough to switch back.

I always opt not to install any Toolbar ... but since I saw this post and Elwood & joe7 ... seem so interested in the Toolbar and "WebGuard" portion of Avira ...

Just out of "Curiosity" ...

Q1: What does "WebGuard" really do for you?

Q2: Does it block you form a lot of sites ... like download sites and what not?

Q3: Does it Slow Down your downloads?

Yes. Webguard monitors all sites which you visit.

1 and 2. It blocks potentially harmful sites, like registry cleaner sites (try a search for easy cleaner and click on the toniarts site and try to download easy cleaner) or eicar files.

3. It actually seems to speed up my downloads, don't know why, but it does.

It's just another layer of protection, similar to the WOT extension for Firefox only it does it all in the background, it works in all my browsers, even the ones without the Searchfree toolbar installed.
