rescue CD screen resolution problem

rescue CD boots ok but for whatever reason the screen resolution is way off. the app GUI extends way beyond the screen so that the scan button is off the screen and not available to click with mouse. I try hitting the enter key and nothing happens so I assume I must mouse_click the scan button. running a new hanns-g LCD widescreen monitor which otherwise works great. any way to fix the screen res problem so that the app GUI window is fully inside the screen and the scan button is then available to click. any way to run rescue CD from linux terminal?

rescue CD screen resolution problem

I now see some other posts mentioning the same problem, although so far I have not seen a fix.
Like other poster, the problem is on a Dell (I'm not that familiar with it -- it's my wife's pc)
video seems to be
intel 82845 G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller

fyi, I booted Dell with BartPE XP CD and ran avira from the c\hdd
and that seemed to work, (making the assumption that the avira on
the c\hdd is not corrupt) but would like to be able to use the
rescue CD on that Dell too.

Hello socket2me,

It looks that the generic driver included in Rescue CD doesn't show the 800x600 resolution properly on your monitor. As a workaround, you can run AntiVir from the command line by going to Miscellaneous -> Commandline (or press CTRL+ALT+Backspace to close the GUI altogether). Then type this command:

antivir --allfiles -z -ren /mnt/

this will scan all files from the recognized drive and rename all infections found. It will also scan inside archives.

You can see the complete list of options by typing antivir --help
