AntiVir Personal & Vista SP2

I installed SP2 yesterday via auto updates. After restart I got the message that Avgnt.exe is not compatible with this version of Windows.

I choose to run the program and all is well. I have never installed any betas and all is current.

The Security Center shows that Virus Protection reports that it is turned off.

Hi Jamin,

the problem, that the Security Center shows Virus Protection as off is an know problem if you use AntiVir Version 8 on Windows Vista SP2.

I reccomend you tu update your AntiVir to Version 9, which is availabe on http://www.free-av.de/de/download/download_servers.php
After installing Version 9, everything will work fine. (It does so with me too!)

I just got SP2 (it took about an hour to download and install and I'm on broadband) but it went without a hitch. I've gotten no error messages at all.

I wonder (totally off topic), how they decide when to send the update notices to whom? My friend normally gets the updates a few hours before I do (it's simply when our computers are started) and she didn't note it last night.
 :?: There is no such thing as a stupid question :?:

I just received an AntiVir product update that fixed the Security Center issue.

Build V8.2.0.353 a total of 12 files.

Does this mean that the compatibility issue is fixed? Since I choose to run the program and not show the message again, I can't tell.

I'm planing on upgrading to version 9 soon but would like to hold on to version 8 for a little while longer.

Thank you for your time and effort.

I think this fix will solve the conflict between the Windows Security center on SP2 and AntiVir Version 8.
