Avira Antivir Premium - license key

I purchased Avira Antivir Premium on 14-March-2009 then installed and used it without problems . Today after the program updated itself it then informed me that I should restart my computer , after doing this the Mailguard would not operate . I looked in the log for this and I think it had a problem finding the license key but this key does exist and the program tells me I am running a full version and it has my correct details .
I re-installed / repaired the program with the utiliy provided and it is now ok . But is there a problem with my license key which will re-occur ?

Carlo Wingfield

My computer is a Sony VAIO running Windows XP , during the period of installation and over the weekend various Sony / Windows updates were occuring

Hi,
I don't think that this license key problem will reoccur. If it does, please post here again.

Avira Antivir Premium - license key

The problem reoccurs every time I restart the computer . I then have to repair the program with the attached facility and then restart the computer and everything is ok , until I turn the computer off .

Hi,
First, please check your system date. If it's correct, try downloading your license by logging in to the License login page

If you don't have a username and password (so you can't log in to the indicated page), you should have an activation code (received by Email when you bought the product). To activate your new license, open AntiVir and go to Help -> License Management. Insert your activation code there and click Next.

Avira Antivir Premium - license key

The System date is correct . I have already activated the licence using the key from the original e-mail but I also downloaded the key again as you instructed and double clicked on it and followed the prompt, it told me the current installed key is the same as the one downloaded .

Hi,
I think you had a MailGuard issue, not a key issue. You can check this in your MAILGRD.LOG.
I'm glad that your problem is solved.

Avira Antivir Premium - license key

The problem is still there .The log told me that a valid licence key had been found but when it initialised the validation of the AntiVir LSP it failed giving error code 24048.
As I stated before if I repair the program with the attached utility and restart the program performs normally (until I restart again).

Hello Carlo,

Please post the relevent section of the MailGuard report file. If you are consistently getting a recurring error about the LSP it could be that another software is installing an incompatible lsp. A HijackThis logfile could show details of this.

Additionally please download and run LSP fix, make a screenshot of the window (or note the details in the keep and remove panes) and post it here. Don't press the finish button or do anything else at this stage, but just close the program from the X at the top of the window. This will make sure that nothing is changed on your system.

Cheers,

Steve

PS I'll move this thread to the main section for AntiVir Premium as it appears this isn't a licence key issue after all.

Hi,
Please disable Windows Defender: go to Control panel -> Windows Defender -> Tools -> Options -> untick "Use Real-Time Protection" and "Use Windows Defender", click ok or apply.
Please uninstall Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Restart the PC.

If the problem persists you can use this procedure:

* Go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> right click on the Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
* Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt window, and then press the Enter key.
* Restart the computer.
* Go to add or remove programs in control panel and select Avira Premium Security Suite.
* Press Change.
* Select Modify and make sure all the boxes are checked, then click Next.
* Restart the computer.

Avira Antivir Premium - license key

It seems ok now.

I have only uninstalled Ad-aware (free version) although I have not run this program for several months . I have since restarted my computer 3 times and the problem seems to have been solved , I will let you know if it re-occurs .
